My topic is the Ronald McDonald House Charity. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children around the world. There are currently 300+ Ronald McDonald Houses in 60+ countries that house families with children, who need medical attention. This charity supports families with a “home away from home” environment while their children receive the medical care that they need. The first Ronald McDonald House was in Philadelphia in 1974. Ten years later, Ronald McDonald House Charity was officially established in memory of McDonald’s Corporation founder, Ray Kroc.
I chose the Ronald McDonald House Charity to talk about for the remainder of the semester because this charity is my sorority’s philanthropy. Ronald McDonald House Charity has quickly grown close to my heart in the past month. I have heard a plethora of stories from my sorority sisters who have volunteered at the local Ronald McDonald House in Savannah, Georgia. Each month my sorority takes a group of volunteers to the local house in Savannah to cook, clean, and hangout with the patients. I hope to be able to visit the Ronald McDonald House soon and experience the amazing things happening there. |
Ronald McDonald House Charity has hundreds of houses, so I chose to focus on the local house located in Savannah, Georgia. This month there will be the first annual Golf Tournament to support the Ronald McDonald House. This event will raise money for the local Savannah house to provide children with a “home away from home”. Also, the Ronald McDonald House always accepts pop tabs from soda cans. The pop tabs that are donated to the Ronald McDonald house are sent off to be recycled. This is a way for the Ronald McDonald House Charity to pay for electricity. The Ronald McDonald House always accepts donations, sponsorships and volunteers.
