The Ronald McDonald House Charity holds hundreds of events to raise money for sick children and their families every year. One in particular that stood out to me is the Beer Guys & Cigars + Ronald Open Golf Tournament in Savannah, Georgia. I think it’s awesome that there are so many Ronald McDonald Houses around the world, but it’s really neat when you have a local RMH. This golf tournament will take place at Savannah Quarters Country Club this weekend, September 27th through September 28th. Sunday night will be a night of fun hosted by Beer Guys & Cigars, followed by the actual golf tournament on Monday morning. This event is unique because there is something for everyone. You don’t necessarily have to attend both days; you can just attend the party or the golf if you would like. |
Beer, Guys & Cigars will be serving their local brews, food and cigars for everyone to enjoy.
This golf tournament is a great way to combine friends, food, drinks, fun, and most importantly the support for the Ronald McDonald House and their mission to provide a “Home Away From Home” for seriously sick children and their families. I think this is an intriguing way to persuade people to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Who wouldn’t want to go play some golf and have fun while also doing a great deed by supporting a fantastic charity?

In Thank You for Arguing, Jay Heinrichs tells us that the art of persuasion is how one wins an argument. I believe that the Ronald McDonald House and Beer, Guys & Cigars are using the tool of persuasion when having a golf tournament to support the Ronald McDonald House. Heinrichs expresses to his readers that an argument of persuasion “gets you what you want” (p.17). In this case, Beer, Guys & Cigars are getting what they want by people signing up for their golf tournament and donating to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is such an impactful charity. Personally, I don’t think much persuasion is needed after you hear stories from volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House. I am a supporter of the Ronald McDonald House and I challenge you to find a way to support too!
