Dear Georgia Southern University,
I am writing this letter to inform you of the importance of the Ronald McDonald House Charity. This charity is especially important to me and my sisters of Alpha Delta Pi, the Epsilon Pi Chapter, here at Georgia Southern University and all of the other Alpha Delta Pi chapters across the United States. The Ronald McDonald House is the national philanthropy for Alpha Delta Pi, and I envision it to become much more than just a philanthropy. I want this charity to hold great importance to you, and I want to share with you the many ways that we can achieve this together.

Ronald McDonald House Charity has provided a “home away from home” for sick children and their families for over 41 years. Found in more than 60 countries, Ronald McDonald House Charity has helped lessen the burden of sickness for 5.7 million families just in 2014.
Ronald McDonald House Charity strives to support more and more children throughout their recoveries, and with the help of the Eagle Nation, I believe we can help them reach their goals. There are so many ways for individuals to get involved. Some ways for you to get involved are by making donations and volunteering for your local Ronald McDonald House. Our local Ronald McDonald House is located only forty-five minutes away in Savannah, GA. Anyone can help by donating money, but they can also donate things such as craft supplies for the children, food to help prepare meals for families, and toys. My sorority sisters and I actively participate in doing these things. Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah would be a great way for students to obtain volunteer hours. Cleaning the house, preparing the meals, and playing with the kids are all ways that Georgia Southern students can help volunteer.
My Alpha Delta Pi sisters and I support Ronald McDonald House Charity by holding fundraisers, collecting pop tabs, volunteering at the local Ronald McDonald House in Savannah to cook meals for the families staying there each month and several more events. Recently, my sorority sisters and I held a Ronald McDonald House Charity fundraiser called Greek Street Trick or Treat raffle for Halloween. Each member of my sorority sold three raffle tickets. The items that were raffled off were donated by families and local businesses. The items included a Yeti cooler, gift certificates to local restaurants in Statesboro, a gun case, and several more items. The money raised by the tickets sold went to RMH. Also, when Alpha Delta Pi won events during Homecoming week, money was donated to the local Ronald McDonald House in Savannah. We, as Alpha Delta Pi, have helped the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah in several ways, and I believe you can too.
Students at Georgia Southern can start helping by holding a fundraiser at the rotunda for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. This fundraiser could start out as something as simple as collecting the pop tabs from soda cans for our local Ronald McDonald House. Pop tabs are a way that Ronald McDonald Houses pay for electricity.
I believe that with the help of the Eagles, Ronald McDonald House Charity can raise more money and support for ill children and their families. An easy way for you to get involved would be to establish an organization or club that supports Ronald McDonald House Charity at Georgia Southern University. We can help make a big difference in the lives of children who need our support. Within this organization, we can create new ways to support Ronald McDonald House Charity, and we can visit our local Ronald McDonald House in Savannah on a monthly basis. By adding this new organization to our campus, we can make an impact on many families’ lives.
A couple who stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah shared their experience on the Savannah Ronald McDonald House’s website. Chad and Krista Kennedy had twins who came at 27 weeks and 6 days. When Krista was discharged from the hospital after she gave birth, a room opened up for the couple at the local Ronald McDonald House. They worried about their precious babies, but they experienced so much love and care from the volunteers at the house. Each night, a meal was prepared for them by volunteers. One of the twins, Piper, came home when she was two months old, but the other twin, Cooper, faced a few set backs. Krista took baby Piper home while Chad stayed at the Ronald McDonald House beside the hospital where Cooper was being treated, until he was able to come home at two and a half months. Both babies are doing well and so are mom and dad thanks to the service of Ronald McDonald House in Savannah.
Ronald McDonald House Charity has impacted the lives of millions of families who have sick children in need of medical attention. By providing families a place to stay nearby their child’s hospital, the child’s recovery process runs more smoothly. Ronald McDonald House Charity has made children happier and healthier by allowing them to stay close to their families.
Eagles, you never know when your younger siblings, relatives, or future children may need the service of a Ronald McDonald House. If you were put into the situation of needing the Ronald McDonald House services, you would appreciate the volunteer time put into it by students.

I know from a personal experience how much my sorority sisters and I are appreciated for the services that we do for the Ronald McDonald House. A day volunteering at our local Ronald McDonald House is pretty laid back. As the families go back and forth from the house to the hospital, we introduce ourselves, and take time to get to know them and their stories. We always prepare a meal for the guests at the house when we visit. One of the highlights is being able to play with the siblings of the sick children in the hospital. Being able to experience this first hand has inspired my Alpha Delta Pi sisters and I to invite you to take part in supporting this important charity.
I think your support of the Ronald McDonald House would help add another way for Georgia Southern students to get involved in our community and local Ronald McDonald House. Imagine the reputation that our university would receive by being involved in such an amazing charity. I dream of seeing this charity thrive for hundreds of years to come. With our help as a university, we can make that happen for future families.
Sincerely,
Jenny Way
